Gail Ross has welcomed news that the timescale for the Berriedale Braes remains on course to be shovel ready.
Made Orders will start later this month. At the end of the process a contractor will be appointed and the scheme will be shovel ready.
Ms Ross said..
“It is great to hear that the process has started to make the Berriedale scheme shovel ready. This of course would have happened sooner however a Public Local Inquiry had to happen after an objection was lodged.
“Making the scheme shovel ready is a major step towards solving the challenge of Berriedale Braes. It has been an issue that was long championed by my predecessor Rob Gibson and I am delighted by the progress and commitment shown from the SNP Scottish Government which has seen us get to this stage.
“Soon there will be a contractor appointed, the Scottish Government mentioned this scheme specifically in their budget document and things are moving in the right direction. It is fair to say that thanks to Scottish Government support we are closer now than ever to finding a solution to the Berriedale Braes.”
